The concentration of financial resources provides a solid foundation for serving the real economy. Data shows that in 2025, the financial sector on Financial Street added 2983.6 billion yuan in value, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%, accounting for 34.4% of the city's total financial value-added output. Asset management institutions headquartered in the district manage over 23 trillion yuan in assets, representing approximately one-eighth of the national total. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the district's financial sector is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 6.9%. Financial institutions based here hold assets equivalent to about half of the city's total and one-third of the nation's total.
Capital markets are a key channel for turning financial resources into industrial development momentum. In recent years, the Financial Street area has continuously expanded its capital market ecosystem centered on the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE), establishing a primary hub for supporting innovative SMEs in going public.
Wang Li, spokesperson of the China Securities Regulatory Commission and deputy director of the General Office, stated that within the overall framework of a multi-tier capital market, the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE) plays a key role in serving innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Tailoring to the diverse types and development stages of SMEs, the BSE has established multiple listing standards to support qualified high-quality SMEs in going public. As of the end of 9, the number of listed companies on the BSE reached 348. More than 60% of these are national-level specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative (SRDI) enterprises, spanning various industry segments.
The BSE has also established a flexible financing mechanism based on demand, supporting public offerings by SMEs totaling over 820 billion yuan and follow-on financings nearing 60 billion yuan. This effectively strengthens the industrial chain by filling gaps, reinforcing core segments, and extending value chains. Under the BSE's leadership, more than 1400 new companies listed on the NEEQ in the past 5 years, significantly expanding the capital market's service coverage.
Beyond this, the "Technology-Industry-Finance" empowerment ecosystem is accelerating its formation. The Financial Street promotes the integrated development of the five key financial themes: In technology finance, innovative practices such as tech-focused bonds, venture-lending linkages, and intellectual property securitization continue to emerge. In green finance, product portfolios like green credit, green bonds, and green insurance are expanding steadily. For inclusive finance, platforms like "Rong Xiang Hui" strengthen enterprise engagement and continuously reduce comprehensive financing costs for businesses. Regarding pension finance, new models are being explored in pension management, pension services, and the pension industry. In digital finance, leveraging the Fintech Innovation Zone and China Data Street, landmark breakthroughs have been achieved in regulatory sandboxes, digital yuan pilots, and the financialization of data assets.
Serving the real economy through financial services requires both innovation in financial products and breakthroughs in institutional reform. Beijing is advancing institutional opening-up in finance, leveraging reforms such as streamlined cross-border financing to provide more options for technology enterprises.
"In recent years, Beijing has focused on technological innovation, opening up services, the digital economy, and coordinated development across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to continuously build a hub for institutional-level openness," said Chen Zhiwei, Director of the Foreign Exchange Research Center at the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). SAFE actively supports Beijing in developing new quality productive forces, continues to advance cross-border financing facilitation, and expands cross-border financing channels for high-quality, asset-light, and high-growth technology companies. Currently, over 80 enterprises in Beijing have participated in cross-border financing facilitation programs, with signed amounts approaching $1 billion USD. Pilot experiences are now being rolled out nationwide.
As a flagship event of the Financial Street, the Financial Street Forum Annual Conference has now spanned 15 years, serving as a vital platform for policy announcements, information exchange, and industry matchmaking.
