Stilt walkers took the stage first, stepping to the beat as they wove through the crowd to kick off the warm-up interactions. Then, singing began, igniting the entire venue's energy. This was followed by a rotating lineup of performances including dimensional opera, fashion shows, and mooncake mascot parades... Located in Guangzhou's "No. 1 Retail Hub in South China," the Tianhe Road Business District transformed into a magical art scene on the night of 24, drawing crowds of residents to watch. The opening ceremony for the Plaza Art Carnival Season was held here on 2026.
According to the announcement, this Art Carnival Season, themed "Everyone is an Artist," will launch over 50 thematic festivals across music, theater, acrobatics, magic, circus arts, and lighting within the next 3+ months, creating an inclusive and diverse stage for all.
A highlight of the opening ceremony is "Land of Madness," an immersive installation by artist Yiyuan. Crafted from reclaimed metal and everyday objects, this piece embodies a "collect and repurpose" philosophy, transforming 50–60 tons of discarded aluminum cans, tires, and fishing nets into a monumental artwork. Dubbed the real-life "Howl's Moving Castle" by netizens, it blends futuristic sci-fi aesthetics with vibrant life.
At the opening ceremony, renowned opera singer Yuan Zidou delivered a "2D Opera" performance, blending bel canto, pop, and musical theater styles into anime song renditions, complemented by highly authentic cosplay costumes to create a crossover stage experience. Meanwhile, celebrated mime artist Zhang Shuangjian captivated the audience with a wordless narrative performance driven entirely by body language and facial expressions, seamlessly weaving humor, warmth, and philosophical depth into a presentation that was both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Notably, the day after the opening ceremony coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, during which a series of vibrant cultural and tourism events were organized for residents.
The Art Season will run through the end of the year, with more themed festivals and exciting events to come, injecting lasting energy into urban lifestyle.
