The fourth "Fenghua Zhengmao · Hui Sui Mo Yuan — Exhibition of Works by Eleven Renowned Calligraphers" opened at the Jusun Art Space, No. 18 on the Bund in Shanghai. As the fourth installment of the "Fenghua Zhengmao" series, this exhibition shifts focus from the previous three editions' emphasis on mid-career and young calligraphers to celebrate six decades with 11 calligraphers who have reached the age of 60, honoring their shared milestone through brushwork and ink, and commemorating their enduring friendship in the art of calligraphy.
The 11 participating calligraphers are key figures in China's calligraphy community, most holding prominent positions. Many teach at universities and advance calligraphy education, others lead publications that preserve classical traditions, some excel in both calligraphy and seal carving while also mastering theory, and many have ventured into poetry and prose creation, demonstrating comprehensive artistic cultivation.
Years have deepened the texture of our brushstrokes; the era calls for the warmth of calligraphy. The "In Their Prime" exhibition series refines these strokes through repeated public displays, rooting this national treasure firmly in the soil of public culture. This tangible and appreciable practice of ink and brush continues to sow seeds of artistic heritage, ensuring that traditional cultural lines take root, flourish, and are passed down through generations within today's urban landscape.
